2020 FALL BALL SEASON!!!

Hello Medina Families,

MGSA is excited to announce our 2020 Fall Season is officially ON! Registration for 2020 MGSA Fall Ball is now OPEN. CLICK THE GREEN BOX TO THE RIGHT TO REGISTER FOR 2020 FALL BALL.

We apologize for the delay in opening registration, but we needed to confirm that a season was possible. We are confident we can have a safe, fun and healthy Fall Ball season.

Our Fall Ball has started the Sunday after Labor Day each year and we do still hope to start games Sunday September 13. The season will last 6 weeks and we will consider any rain outs/make up dates that occur if the weather allows.

Fall Ball has typically only been open to Divisions 3 and 4, but due to our summer rec season cancellation, we are happy to open Fall Ball for Division 2 this year; as long as registration totals support enough players for Division 2. Division 2 will be ages 9 to 11.  Division 3 will be ages 12 and up.
The $70 registration fee includes a Fall Ball t-shirt.  (Fee helps to cover umpire fees, field maintenance and equipment.  MGSA is a non-profit organization)

As safety is our top priority, parents must help MGSA by adhering to the State Guidelines we currently have in place. The guidelines are posted at https://coronavirus.ohio.gov/static/responsible/Baseball-Softball.pdf. We must be clear that lack of cooperation per these guidelines could result in you being asked to leave the park and/or could result in the league having to stop play.

In order to attempt a September 13th start date, Fall Ball registration will only remain open through August 30, 2020. As soon as rosters are set, a coach will reach out regarding practices before games begin. We can’t wait to see you on the fields!!

Thanks and Stay Safe Medina,

-MGSA Board of Directors

2020 – 2021 Heat Travel Tryouts

Hello MGSA Families,

We hope everyone has remained safe and healthy this summer.

We are excited to share information on our Medina Heat Travel Softball program for the 2021 season.

Typically, we set one large tryout on a Saturday in early August each year and supplement that tryout as needed with smaller make-up dates for those unable to attend the main tryout. To more easily adhere to the Covid-19 safety protocols, we will not be holding a large tryout this year. Instead, we would like to invite any families interested in trying out for the Medina Heat to review the informational flyer and print/complete the Travel Application form as well as the City of Medina liability waiver. Please then contact us at MedinaFastpitch@gmail.com to schedule a tryout. The completed forms can be turned in at your scheduled tryout. We will keep these tryouts smaller so that we can keep everyone involved safe.

In your email message, please include your daughter’s name, positions played, number of years played, and her birthdate. Once we have your email information, we will forward it to the appropriate coach who will contact you as soon as possible to set a tryout date and time. For the 2021 season, we will have teams at the 12U, 14U and 18U levels but would love to carry a team at the 10U level if interest is shown for that age group.

We understand many have not played softball this summer due to Covid cancellations, but we hope that does not deter anyone from trying out for our travel program.

Thank you for your interest and we will see you soon!!

2020 Summer Season Update

Hello MGSA Families,

It is with heavy disappointment that upon further review and partnership with the City of Medina, the MGSA Board of Directors have decided to officially cancel the MGSA Summer Rec League for 2020.

We did not make this decision lightly, and held out as long as we could with fingers crossed we would be able to see some version of our rec league this summer. Our decision was based upon review with area leagues, the City of Medina, and the Medina Board of Health. The decision was also based on several refund requests we have received, lack of equipment to prevent sharing (helmets, catchers gear, etc.), and the ability to properly enforce the current safety requirements on a wide scale.

We are working with our online registration vendor at this time regarding the refund process and will be issuing refunds to those who had registered and paid for the 2020 Summer Rec League as soon as possible. We appreciate your continued patience as we have these refunds processed.

-Regarding MGSA Fall Ball, the fall season has always started the Sunday after Labor Day. We will evaluate the possibility of having MGSA Fall Ball as we get later into the Summer.

-For Medina Heat travel softball, we typically hold tryouts every August. We do not know what these will look like this year but will post updates as we get closer for anyone interested in the Heat travel program.

We again express our deepest apologies and cannot wait to see our MGSA families back on the ballfields in the future.

May 14th 2020

Today the State of Ohio announced non contact sports can resume at the end of the month.

We are waiting for final details from the governors office on how the season will be handled, as well as the go ahead from the County Health Department and local officials.

We will be forming teams and contacting coaches within the coming weeks.

Get out there and get those bats and gloves ready.

Registration is still open at MedinaFastpitch.com

2020 Season Update

Hello MGSA Families,

We hope everyone is safe and healthy in these trying times. Like you have, MGSA has been closely watching the developments and recommendations from the CDC and Governor DeWine. While Ohio will begin our reopening process in the near future, and while we are hopeful softball will be played this summer, we are not yet at the point to where we can make a final decision on our summer softball season.

We have worked with the City of Medina and have the ability to play our Rec Season later in the summer (such as July and August rather than June and July) if and when the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted for outdoor sports. Options are on the table as we work through these challenges such as starting the season later or playing a shortened season. That being said, the safety of our players, coaches, umpires, and our families is our top priority.

At MGSA, we firmly believe in the saying “Let Them Play.” This term means more to us now than ever before. We therefore will keep MGSA registration open on our website (medinafastpitch.com) all the way up until we have clearance to resume field activities and would set rosters at that time.

We truly appreciate everyone’s patience as we attempt to safely get back onto the ballfields this year. At the same time, if you would like to withdraw your child’s registration for 2020 and be refunded, we are of course willing to process same; please just email or private message us. We also wanted to be clear that if we are unable to play this year, refunds will be issued in full once that final determination is made.

We will continue to post updates as we learn more, but as always, please do not hesitate to email us or private message us with any questions or concerns you would like to discuss in the meantime.

While we are waiting for our season to start, remember that the fields are still open as long as we practice social distancing.

Spend some time playing catch with members of your household, practice your swing, or just enjoy time outside.

We will continue to keep you updated on our season via Facebook, our website, and email.

2019 Fall Ball Schedules

Schedules for the 2019 Fall Ball Season have been released.
Coaches should be in contact soon

PRACTICES AND FIELD CONDITIONS

Decisions to call off practices are at the discretion of the team's Head Coach - the league will not make weather-related decisions for practices.

We do ask, however, that since our fields have been updated, coaches please use good judgment when playing on wet fields - besides the inherent danger to the players, damage can be done to the infield.

If the field is "soggy" yet you believe you can still run some drills, please use the outfield grass.
